Synopsis (as taken from GoodReads)

Seeking women ages 18–32 to participate in a study on ethics and morality. Generous compensation. Anonymity guaranteed.

When Jessica Farris signs up for a psychology study conducted by the mysterious Dr. Shields, she thinks all she’ll have to do is answer a few questions, collect her money, and leave. But as the questions grow more and more intense and invasive and the sessions become outings where Jess is told what to wear and how to act, she begins to feel as though Dr. Shields may know what she’s thinking…and what she’s hiding. As Jess’s paranoia grows, it becomes clear that she can no longer trust what in her life is real, and what is one of Dr. Shields’ manipulative experiments. Caught in a web of deceit and jealousy, Jess quickly learns that some obsessions can be deadly.

Review

Greer and Sarah’s latest book has beyond blown me away! I loved their book The Wife Between Us and this one has really shown how much dedication these two gals put into their writing to make it perfect.

I loved all the twists and turns in this book. There were so many that I did not see coming! The entire time I was biting my nails, turning each page quicker than the last, desperate to know what would happen next! Each twist will slam you into the next with utter shock.

The characters had me so enveloped in this story. My heart hammered reading Jessica’s pov. You see this girl so desperate to satisfy Dr. Shields and make sure she is perfect and honest. Then you read Dr. Shields pov and really began to see everything you think you know is true crumble as you question who in this book really is crazy and emotionally disturbed vs who is the person holding it all together. The characters were so diverse and so well written. Both pov’s were expertly written.

The book overall was excellent and deeply thought provoking. You will question your own morality reading this. The question we must ask ourselves is how far are we willing to go? You will press on reading this novel in search of answers and perhaps even see a bit of our own inner turmoils in some of the characters. 5 stars from me!
