Behind the Scenes (Apart from the Crowd #1) by Jen Turano book review

Miss Permilia Griswold, the wallflower behind “The Quill” gossip column, knows everything that goes on in the ballrooms of New York. When she overhears a threat against the estimable Mr. Asher Rutherford, she’s determined to warn him. Away from society’s spotlight, Asher and Permilia discover there’s more going on behind the scenes than they anticipated.

This was a sweet light-hearted romance. The writing was phenomenal and the central plot was a wonderful concept. I loved the suffrage era time set for this book and was drawn in from page one.  Asher and Permilla were wonderfully written and develop beautifully as characters. This delightful intriguing reads grows on you with every page as you are swept away with the story and one simply can not put it down. This is my first book by Turano and was blown away by her impeccable writing. I loved how she wrote Permilla to come across as this “wallflower” trope when she is simply anything but underneath it all. Gentleman Asher grew in my heart as you get to know him and also i was on pins and needles for him through the whole book. I just dont want to give out any spoilers. This book will have you laughing yourself silly. definite 5 stars from me. Thank you Bethany House for sending me this in exchange for my honest review.
