The Bone Witch (The Bone Witch #1) by Rin Chupeco book review

The Plot

*** as taken from GoodReads***

When Tea accidentally resurrects her brother from the dead, she learns she is different from the other witches in her family. Her gift for necromancy means that she’s a bone witch, a title that makes her feared and ostracized by her community. But Tea finds solace and guidance with an older, wiser bone witch, who takes Tea and her brother to another land for training. In her new home, Tea puts all her energy into becoming an asha — one who can wield elemental magic. But dark forces are approaching quickly, and in the face of danger, Tea will have to overcome her obstacles…and make a powerful choice.

The Review

I devoured this book as if it was the breath of life. The pace of this book starts off so strong and only builds up quicker and quicker. This story is made of two entwined tales and reads so quickly and fluidly. The story idea of using Asha’s is so unique. I loved reading the alternating past and presents in this book, and Rin does a good job of keeping pace between them and not letting anything lack. I was thrilled to receive this very early arc from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review and i can’t wait till its published! The cover is absolutely gorgeous and I hope that they don’t change it. An also lets talk about the heart glass for a moment! OMG! How unique of an idea. The heart glass is used to show how someone is feeling and if they fall in love they can give it away to someone but they have to be careful as who they give it to can use it to control them. So much creativity and heart from the author went into this fantastic read. 5 stars from me.
