The Carver by Jacob Devlin book review

The Synopsis

Enter the girl in the red hood, the prince, and the actress. This modern day fairy tale retelling brings forth Pierto (Perter Pan) and Crescenzo (the son of Pinnochio). Together the two boys set off to unlock their fairy tale counter parts. But the night he accidentally meets the girl in the red hood, Crescenzo’s life is turned upside down and he is immersed in a world of evil queens and magic mirrors.

The Review

This was a fun read. I loved the modern day back drop to the book. Fans of ‘Once Upon A Time’ t.v show are sure to love this. The characters are wonderfully written, and beautifully flawed as though they were your typical teenager. The writing feels very adventurous and you feel like you are on magical ride. It is like a roller coaster of lightheartedness and the twists and turns of evil and  darkness. The crossover’s of the other fairy tale characters were executed in a wonderful way. I would like to see more stories of some of the characters though. I highly anticipate the second novel! 4 stars from me! Thank you to Jacob’s publisher for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review.
